Four United States ships and one Confederate ship and one ship of the line have been named North Carolina. Unfortunately, one USS North Carolina never made it in to service and was scrapped while on the blocks. And now, a sixth North Carolina is being built scheduled for launching in a couple of years.

1. Ship of the Line North Carolina 74
2. The second USS North Carolina (ACR 12). Consequently, the twelfth state is North Carolina later renamed Charlotte (CA 12)
3. The third USS North Carolina (BB 52) Which never made it off the blocks.
4. The fourth USS North Carolina (BB 55). Now a Museum in Wilmington, NC
5. The fifth USS North Caroina (SSN 777) is currently under construction at both Newport News, VA and and GD Electric Boat in Groton, CT
6. The Confederate ship CSS North Carolina
